Fitness Update

I did the beep test again today and have improved my score again.

Score: 4.6
VO2 Max: 28-ish (ie. poor - at least it's not VERY poor anymore!)

I find that I can run a lot further in one go now, as long as I just keep on running... The beep test is hard for me because I have to stop every 20m.

Beep test!

I went for a run earlier today, and managed to improve my beep test score to 4.4 (I know, not much of a difference, but still a personal best!). I feel that I could do better, but I guess I am not the type to push myself to utter exhaustion!! Maybe I should - I would imagine it would make me fitter a lot faster!! Either way, I'm going for another run this afternoon.

Time to get fit!

I decided on Sunday in my boredom that I would go for a run. Now to fill you in, I used to be an extremely active person, play numerous sports multiple times per week. While I was in uni I used to run 8km/day. Now - well... I ride my bike, but that's about it. So on Sunday, I thought, "Ok, I'm going to have a go of the beep test, and see how fit I am!" I jumped on the net, downloaded a free copy, loaded it onto my iPod and off I went to the park.

But uhh, unfortunately it wasn't at all as rosy as I thought it would be. It's embarassing to admit that I scored 3.3 in the beep test!! This equates to "very poor" cardiovascular fitness on my part!!!! I can't believe it! I used to easily score 5.5+ in school!!

Anyway, so I have been going for runs around the park since (even with my sore muscles), and I repeated the beep test and scored 4.3!!! So hey, if I can improve by a whole section in 2 days, I will be fit in no time!! :)

I'll try and blog my scores on here (hopefully I won't go backwards!)
